New Zealand’s new Privacy Act will come into effect later this year. This new legislation will address the issues and challenges created by major technological changes over the last 25 years. It also expands the role of the Privacy Commissioner and, as a result, the Office is implementing a new way of working – Privacy 2.0. This will ensure the Office is proactive, strategic and future focused in order to address the ever changing challenges facing Privacy regulation in our modern world.
This new senior leadership position reports to the Commissioner and is central to Privacy 2.0. It will create a new Strategy and Insights team that will work across the Office to ensure strategic plans, operational processes and decision making are evidence based, proactive and deliver best practice regulatory services.
With a small dedicated team including public affairs, Māori engagement and a strategic analyst, this role will work cross-functionally to develop and execute strategy, create feedback loops, drive continuous improvement, and lead an Office culture that is both proactive and future focused. Externally, this role will develop and maintain strong links with external stakeholders, maximising the Office’s influence across the economy.
You will be an experienced senior leader with broad experience in strategy, collaboration, and executing change. You will understand how to use business intelligence to inform decision making at all levels and will thrive in a role that requires significant cross-functional influence. You will be known as someone who can ‘get things done’ while maintaining a strategic perspective. Experience in iwi engagement, stakeholder management and in a regulatory environment would be advantageous.
