About Raukawa Charitable Trust:
The Raukawa Charitable Trust (RCT) has been a provider of quality community initiatives throughout the South Waikato since 1987. We are proud to deliver a wide range of iwi-lead initiatives in health, social, treaty, cultural, and environmental sectors, to the communities that we serve.
The Waka Taua Service is known as our flagship programme and has been operating within our community for over 20 years. A marae based programme, the Waka Taua Wellness Programme runs during the weekends, for the duration of the ten week school term.
The programme delivers weekend wānanga with a focus on kaupapa Māori wellness activities for rangatahi tane with drug and alcohol dependencies or related problems.
The Kaiāwhina role will suit somebody who enjoys working with rangatahi tane, is able to work weekends and enjoys the freedom of being able to take full duration of the school holidays off. This role requires the successful applicant to start their work week on a Thursday morning and finish on a Sunday afternoon. Overnight stays are required during the weekend wānanga.
This is a full time permanent position, with the days of work starting on Thursday and ending on Sunday. Primary responsibilities include driving vehicles, collecting clients from their homes and then dropping them off at home again. The Kaiāwhina provides support and assistance to the Kaihautū and Kaiwhakaoho during the weekend wānanga.
The Kaiāwhina is not required to work during school holidays.
The successful candidate will be a mature individual who has a passion for making a positive change in the lives of young men and will:
- Understand Kaupapa Māori concepts and philosophies
- Possess a valid and full Class 1 drivers licence
- Ideally have experience driving large Ford Transit vans (10/11 seater)
- Have experience towing trailers (both long and short).
If you are interested in working in a supportive, fun, team environment then we want to hear from you. We offer wellness initiatives as well as ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Applicants must hold a valid and full Class 1 drivers licence, and be prepared to undergo reference checks and Police vetting.
Please include a CV in chronological order, and a cover letter with your application. Applications close Friday 10 July 2020.
