About the role
You will work closely with whānau and hospital services to provide appropriate culturally-centred short-term accommodation to carers with loved ones in hospital, with priority to Manawataki region to the highest standard of care and manaakitanga. You will provide day-to-day administration and operational support across Kaitiaki service, Waiora Campus and localities.
You will:
- ensure outcomes are whānau-centred and responsive, putting people at the heart of what we do
- have the ability to work independently or as part of a wider team
- use your initiative and judgement to ensure the smooth day to day running of the whare
- monitor and support Kaitiaki, Whare Taurima day-to-day operations, including data gathering, audit and review procedures
- ensure high standards of quality and accuracy of reports to the Pou Whakahaere (Team Leader) Kaitiaki
- ensure tikanga practice is upheld and supported.
About the Service
The Whare Taurima is a kaupapa that operates within Te Puna Oranga (TPO) Māori health service Waikato, Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato. The primary purpose of Te Whare Taurima is to implement kaitiakitanga, manaakitanga, whakamana, whakarongo, mauri pai, whakapakari, whakapono and kotahitanga.
Kaitiaki services work in conjunction to hospital, clinical and operational teams to strengthen their capability and capacity to achieve health equity and wellbeing for Māori receiving hospital care. Kaitiaki champion and promote Māori Health improvement through their cultural cares to ensure the holistic health needs of whānau are responded to and heard.
This role is positioned within the Kaitiaki team who reports to the Pou Whakahaere Kaitaiki. These responsibilities are supported by Te Puna O (Maaori health) Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato.
