They’re entering an exciting new phase of growth, innovation, and industry reform and they’re looking for a commercially astute and forward-thinking Head of Finance to join their Wellington-based team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a pivotal leadership role where you will drive financial strategy, performance, and sustainability across TAB NZ.

You’ll play a key role in strengthening financial planning and analysis, providing high-quality insights to support commercial growth, and ensuring robust financial governance. You’ll also oversee key partnerships, including financial monitoring of their strategic agreement with Entain NZ.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide financial oversight and strategic advice to the CFO and executive team
  • Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting
  • Oversee monthly financial reporting, analysis, and compliance with IFRS and tax obligations
  • Drive strong financial governance, risk management, and internal controls
  • Lead external audit processes and statutory reporting
  • Deliver robust financial modelling and insights to support commercial initiatives
  • Monitor and forecast performance of the Entain NZ partnership
  • Support data-driven decision-making through enhanced analytics, systems, and tools
  • Build and lead a high-performing, values-led Finance team
  • Partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders across the industry

About You

You’ll be an experienced finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, commercially focused environment. You bring a strong balance of strategic thinking and operational delivery.

We’re looking for:

  • CA or equivalent qualification
  • Significant senior finance experience, including leading a finance function
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial analysis capability
  • Experience in financial reporting, forecasting, and risk management
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and executive teams
  • A collaborative leadership style with a focus on developing high-performing teams
  • Strong systems capability (e.g. Excel, Power BI; experience with Xero desirable)
  • Previous audit or assurance experience will be highly regarded
