As part of our Financial Planning and Partnering team you'll help shape the financial future of the Council. The Finance Business Partnering function is a centre of excellence for financial business support and advice within the Council.
We work collaboratively across the organisation to provide strategic insights, financial stewardship, and trusted advice that enables informed decision-making.
Ngā Taipitopito Tūranga - Role details
As a Management Accountant, you'll be reporting to a Finance Business Partner and working alongside a wider team.
You'll work closely with business units to deliver accurate financial insights, support strategic planning and ensure sound financial management.
You'll complete month-end processes, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, while providing expert financial and strategic advice to support decision-making. Strong relationship-building skills are key, as you'll collaborate across the organisation and with external partners.
We are currently looking for someone to support the Transport and Infrastructure portfolio, experience with NZTA is a bonus (not essential). Please note that the allocation of portfolios can change over time to meet the needs of the team and the business areas we support. It is possible in the future you may support another area of Council.
Ngā tohu me ngā wheako - Qualifications and experience
You will bring proven experience in accounting or business in a finance environment, strong analytical and reporting skills, and excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement is essential. A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or commerce, and hold a Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) qualification or equivalent.
