Governance and Information is Wellington City Council's centre of expertise for governance, democratic services and transparent decision-making. We support the Council, committees, community boards and the wider organisation to deliver high-quality democratic processes that our city can rely on.
Āu ake mahi - What you'll do
We're looking for a governance professional to support our Democracy Services team as a Democracy Advisor. Our Democracy Services team have the important role of ensuring Wellington City Council meets all legislative requirements in delivering democratic processes.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with the team to manage the smooth administration of Council and committee meetings, ensure representatives and community board members have the information they need to govern, and provide guidance and support to Council staff in the preparation and presentation of information and advice to representative and community board members.
As a trusted Democracy Advisor, you will also facilitate effective relationships between the Council and elected members and ensure robust and transparent decision-making.
We currently have two full-time vacancies available: one permanent and one fixed-term until March 2027.
Ngā tohu me ngā wheako - Qualifications and experience
This role will require you to operate professionally, as an apolitical council officer, and in a political environment. We're looking for someone who has the proven ability to maintain the confidence of elected members, your colleagues, and the public, and ensure the sensitivity of information.
You'll bring a relevant qualification or equivalent experience of at least 3 years' experience in an advisory or support role within a governance setting. You will be someone who is highly organised with exceptional time management, thrives in a busy environment and has excellent relationship management skills.
