The Customer and Community Group is focused on creating a well-connected, engaged, and thriving community by delivering a variety of essential services in a way that enhances social, cultural, and recreational aspects of Pōneke. To support this vision, we're on the lookout for a Recreation Coordinator to join our team at the Karori Recreation Centre. This is a permanent, full-time role working Tuesday to Saturday.

The Karori Recreation Centre is a unique multi-use facility catering to many sport and recreation programmes. It is in a growth suburb of Karori with plenty of families, older adults and a range of cultures who want to be active, play sport and be involved.

Āu ake mahi - What you'll do

Working closely with Cheyenne, the Recreation Centre Manager, you will assist with the centre's bookings, provide exceptional customer service to members of the Pōneke community who visit our centre, and complete some administrative duties.

You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Planning and delivering existing programmes, activities and practices to pre-school and primary aged children
  • Developing and implementing new programmes, activities and practices
  • Carrying out cleaning and maintenance duties according to procedure

We're looking for you to:

  • Have coaching or teaching experience
  • Be passionate about the sport and recreation industry
  • Possess a customer focused and can do attitude
  • Have great communication and people skills
  • Have the ability to work in a team and have fun

Ideally, you will have background and expertise in:

  • Working with children (coaching and/or teaching capacity)
  • Social media and confidence using all social media platforms
  • A relevant qualification in sport, recreation or physical education

The remuneration for this role commences at $63,029 to $74,151 and may be flexible depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
