Te Mātāwai is seeking a new appointee from Te Ao Pāpāho to serve as the elected representative for Ngā Aho Whakaari and Te Whakaruruhau o Ngā Reo Irirangi Māori. This nationally significant governance role sits at the centre of Māori language revitalisation and brings the collective voice of the Māori media sector into Te Mātāwai’s strategic decision-making.

The role requires advanced fluency i roto i te reo me ōna tikanga, strong governance capability, and credibility within Māori media with a proven track record in broadcasting, film, screen, and digital platforms. Applicants must be able to operate confidently across Māori and Crown systems and contribute to long-term, sector-wide outcomes for te reo Māori.

The appointment is for a three-year term, with an average commitment of approximately five hours per week.
