Business Support Officer - Parks and Open Spaces
Wellington City Council
Āu ake mahi - What you'll do
The Customer and Community (C&C) Group is focused on creating a well-connected, engaged, and thriving community by delivering a variety of essential services in a way that enhances social, cultural, and recreational aspects of Pōneke. To support this vision, we have an exciting opportunity for admin superstars to join our Parks and Open Spaces business units, supporting the manager heading up this busy team and providing seamless admin support to their wider group.
Parks and Open Spaces:
Our Parks and Open Spaces business unit is led by the Manager Parks and Open Spaces. The business unit is dedicated to supporting community recreation, wellbeing and development through essential services. These services include parks, playgrounds, gardens, nurseries, coastal areas, marinas, cemeteries, sports fields and operational services. We thrive on ensuring that the city's outdoor spaces are safe, inclusive, and thriving, resulting in a city where people and nature thrive.
In this role you will be working directly with the Manager and their leadership team, supporting them with busy diaries, managing inboxes and completing administrative tasks and general correspondence. Other responsibilities may include arranging meetings and appointments for leadership teams, organising venues and equipment, arranging travel requirements, and providing timely responses to Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act (LGOIMA) or Elected Members Queries (EMQ).
This role will be fast-paced and ever changing. Your responsibilities will vary depending on business unit priorities and you will need to be comfortable shifting your focus as required.
Ngā tohu me ngā wheako - Qualifications and experience
As this is a newly established role in busy business units, we are looking for admin superstars with 2-3 years solid administration experience, preferably supporting a Senior leader. As you will work with sensitive information at times, a high level of discretion, confidentiality, and trust is essential.
You'll be a self-starter, comfortable working with ambiguity and able to re-prioritise work as required. You will be the link between the Manager and their wider teams, so experience building and managing positive relationships is essential.
Nōu te rourou - What's in it for you
Working for the Council offers you a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, flexible working options, health and wellbeing support, Council staff discounts and a range of learning and development programmes and opportunities.
