As they deliver a Solar Farm project, our client is seeking a Community & Workforce Engagement Coordinator on a 12-month fixed-term contract to tautoko the project team, iwi and workforce, and establish positive community and employment outcomes on site.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Liaise with employment services and training providers to support local and Māori workforce participation.

Whakaute – Respect

  • Support culturally appropriate site practices and activities.
  • Embed kitanga (cultural protocols) including organising Karakia and recognition of significant cultural events such as Matariki and Waitangi Day.

  • Support training and employment pathways for local iwi and Māori workers.
  • Contribute to site safety initiatives and help uphold company safety standards.
  • Organise and support pre-employment programmes for iwi and identified workers.

  • Coordinate mobilisation to site, including access, inductions and rostering or logistics where required.
  • Provide ongoing workforce support, including attendance follow-up, pastoral care (including iwi or hapū support where appropriate) and return-to-work support.
  • Support site leadership with attendance, wellbeing and performance-related matters.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Comfortable working full-time hours with a 7.00am start in a site-based, project environment.
  • A degree in Business, HR, Communications, Environmental or Social Sciences (or similar) is desirable.
  • Experience in community engagement, workforce coordination, or employment support.
  • Understanding of te reo Māori and tikanga, with confidence engaging respectfully with Māori communities.
  • Highly organised and practical, with experience working in the renewable energy sector (desirable).
  • Comfortable working independently while staying connected to a wider project team.

This role will appeal to a natural connector - someone who can move easily between site, iwi, training providers and the wider community. You’ll support workers in a way that is mana-enhancing, practical and grounded, bringing both approachability and structure to a busy project environment.
