You will play a key leadership role in shaping the public image and outreach of one of New Zealand’s most respected arts institutions.

This position offers you the chance to shape and deliver impactful marketing, communications, and fundraising initiatives that support the advancement of a thriving educational institute. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be instrumental in managing multi-channel campaigns, driving brand engagement, and fostering meaningful connections with key industry stakeholder groups. You will amplify the voice of the school through strategic planning, campaign management, digital innovation, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you collaborating closely with artistic teams, industry partners, media contacts, and the wider community. Success in this role means delivering creative solutions that drive enrolment in courses, increase public awareness of performances and strengthen donor relationships through effective fundraising communications. Your ability to balance operational detail with big-picture thinking will be essential as you help shape memorable experiences for students, supporters, audiences, and alumni alike.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end process of marketing campaigns across multiple channels, ensuring each initiative delivers measurable results.
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive strategies for marketing and communications that reflect the institution’s vision and values.
  • Manage a small team by providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster their professional growth.
  • Take responsibility for all digital platforms including website content management, email marketing, and social media presence to maximise audience reach.
  • Coordinate key events and projects from conception through delivery, ensuring seamless execution that enhances stakeholder relationships.
  • Monitor customer experiences using data-driven insights to inform future marketing plans and enhance overall engagement.
  • Produce compelling collateral and content for various programmes, performance seasons, and outreach initiatives.

Key requirements

  • Proven leadership experience and a strong generalist marketing skillset.
  • Hands-on experience using digital tools such as CRMs, CMS platforms, analytics dashboards and email platforms.
  • Excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills that enable you to build rapport quickly whether working internally across departments or externally with key stakeholders.
  • A genuine passion for supporting artistic education is helpful but prior experience in either education or the arts are not required.
  • A proactive mindset that ensures you not only respond effectively to challenges but also anticipate opportunities for improvement.
