Do you want to support a broad policy work programme that will help shape the future of New Zealand’s creative and cultural sectors?
We are looking for two experienced and motivated Senior Policy Advisers to join our Art & Heritage and Media & Screen policy teams.
Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role
In this role, you’ll work on complex and meaningful policy challenges that balance economic, cultural and social outcomes.
As a Senior Policy Adviser in the Arts and Heritage team you’ll provide strategic advice to Ministers on a range of cultural policy issues, including the development of Amplify – the Government’s Creative and Cultural Strategy.
As a Senior Policy Adviser in the Media and Screen team you’ll provide strategic advice to Ministers on a range of policy issues impacting on the media and screen sectors, including sector sustainability challenges and legislative reform.
You’ll have the opportunity to:

We are looking for a enthusiastic team players who can hit the ground running, think strategically, work through ambiguity and manage relationships. In return we offer an inclusive Ministry, working at pace on varied work that provides ample opportunities for learning and growth.
You will need to demonstrate:
- A track record of leading and delivering on complex pieces of analysis and advice
- Excellent judgement and experience engaging with Ministers and senior leaders
- Demonstrated ability to lead and deliver policy advice, e.g. Cabinet papers, briefing papers, advice to Select Committees, legislation changes (primary and secondary)
- Ability to and experience in providing clear, accurate and well-reasoned policy products that anticipate and meet the needs of the Minister, and communicate complex issues and concepts clearly and succinctly
- Effective stakeholder relationship management at all levels across government and the wider sector
- Experience providing/knowledge of economic and Te Tiriti analysis as part of delivering policy advice. e.g. application of policy frameworks.
