Arowhenua Whānau Services (AWS) is the primary Māori kaupapa provider of integrated, wraparound health and social services to Māori and non-Māori living within the takiwā of Arowhenua and Waihao (Mid and South Canterbury). AWS provides Health and Social Services at its Temuka based free clinic, Youth and Adult Mental Health Services, Tamariki Ora and outreach coverage in the takiwā.

Whai wāhi – The opportunity

Based in Temuka and reporting to the Board, you will lead an established primary health and social services provider, shaping the direction of a high impact organisation grounded in tikanga Māori and dedicated to supporting whānau wellbeing and empowerment.

You will lead the organisation with integrity, vision and mana, upholding its kaupapa and fostering a high performing, culturally grounded team while providing strategic direction and identifying opportunities to grow services in a sustainable and impactful way.

Operational excellence will be central to this role, ensuring sound financial performance, robust risk management practices while nurturing strong relationships with iwi, funders, health partners and other key stakeholders, ensuring services reflect Te Tiriti o Waitangi and best practice across the health and social service sectors.

He kōrero mōu – About you

To succeed in this role, you will be a values based leader with management experience within the health and/or social services sectors and a demonstrated track record of delivering quality outcomes. You will be a strategic thinker capable of guiding complex change and organisational growth combined with financial and operational acumen.

You will have strong appreciation of Māori kaupapa organisations, cultural competency to lead in this space and a commitment to improving Māori health and wellbeing outcomes.
