Starting salary: $96,307 to $130,298 + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga  

As Senior Advisor - Marketing and Communications you will be part of a customer-centric and collaborative comms team. From within the Office of the Chief Executive we provide strategic and tactical marketing and communications advice across the organisation.    

Reporting to the Communications Lead - External and Media, in this role your focus will be on external communications and building Stats NZ's positive profile. We're looking for a generalist practitioner who can play a key role in identifying and managing communication and engagement risks and thrive on managing multiple priorities and often complex subject matter.  

 To be successful in this role you'll:    

  • be a generalist communications professional with at least five-years' experience in a similar role, including external communications, government relations, media and public relations  
  • be comfortable switching between big picture strategy, creative thinking and tactical marketing and communications operations   
  • enjoy being busy and "doing the doing"  
  • be skilled at converting strategic, complex or technical information into clear, compelling material that's fit for purpose and audience   
  • be a plain language champion, with a clean, concise and engaging writing style 
  • demonstrate sound relationship building skills    
  • bring a can-do, whatever it takes attitude, alongside ideas, creativity and an interest in the value of data   
  • have a good understanding of economic, social and governmental influences, the political environment and other agencies and groups likely to impact on our organisation.
