Salary: $ 96,307 - $ 113,303 + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga 

As a Practice Lead - Data Discovery you will bring your hands on experience and knowledge as a team member of the Customer Data Tools Project to deliver new metadata models, approaches to meta data cleansing, and migration of data to the new system.

The role will be providing advice on metadata best practice to support data discovery and improve customer experience. You will be working across business teams to support capability uplift and assist with metadata as well as being the subject matter expert on the project.

Working with the project's change manager and other team members, you will contribute significantly to the business change management and the adoption of the new metadata models and SDMX capability.

The position will report to the Unit Manager Data and Information Management while operationally reporting day-to-day to the Senior Project Manager for the Customer Data Tools Project. 

Key to the success of this role is:  

  • Experience with metadata standards and models (DDI, etc)
  • Experience with utilising metadata to improve discovery of content for customers.
  • Experience working with business teams to build capability and enact changes to processes.
  • Experience working in a project environment ideally on medium to large projects.
  • Collaborative working style.
  • Good communication skills.
  • A credible understanding of the business of Stats NZ and a strong customer focus
  • Effective engagement and relationships with key players
  • Creative, Critical and analytical thinking to address complex problems and identify solutions.
  • Can adapt to new and emerging needs.
  • Working constructively with people across the business including executive leaders, managers, technical specialists and busy front-line staff
  • Apply your knowledge of Māori tikanga to your work.
  • Track record of delivering on their commitments.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange (SDMX) standards.
  • Experience with dissemination tools for statistical data.
  • Knowledge of data governance and Māori data sovereignty.
  • Knowledge of ETL (extract-transform-load) in a project context.
