Starting salary: $118,052 - $158,264 + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga

This role is permanent fulltime, based in Wellington. Reporting to the Principal Commercial Specialist for our Strategic Programmes, you will support the commercial needs of long-term change initiatives like Transformation, Digital and Managing Data and Statistics, and the Next Census programme. You'll be part of a small, dynamic, and collaborative team that values excellent work and great ideas.

In Commercial Arrangements we use our expertise to build strong relationships and uplift commercial and contractual capability to drive excellence within Stats NZ. Our goal is to be the gold standard of Government commercial practice.

This role would suit someone who can bring:

  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to prioritise thinking over process.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Confidence in delivering end-to-end ICT, corporate, and social procurement, either independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to discuss and translate the finer details of corporate and ICT needs into detailed commercial action, while maintaining a clear vision of the bigger picture.
  • Developing high quality procurement artifacts for high-value and high-risk work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A clear vision of how to improve lives through the procurement profession.
  • A tertiary qualification (degree-level or higher) in law, business, commerce, or similar.
  • A strong track record of delivering and executing ICT and large, complex procurements, with a minimum of six years' experience.
  • Willingness to embrace or learn about Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo, and Te Ao Māori
