
Community Support Worker
Te Kupenga Hauora Ahuriri
The Community Support Worker will:
- Work alongside whanau to assist with the development of skills, knowledge and awareness by providing information.
- Liaise and assist whanau to obtain support for identified needs.
- Utilize the Whanau Poutama framework to navigate whanau in goal setting and planning to reach those goals.
- Assist and advocate for whanau to access other services in health, education, social and economic arena.
- Use internally recognized frameworks to assess, plan and implement Care Plans with clients / whanau.
- Communicate and collaborate with clients and other professionals internally and externally using a problem-solving approach.
- Actively contribute towards the planning and implementation of Health Promotion in conjunction with other staff, agencies, organizations.
- Participate in development of own Performance Training Plan annually.
Representing Te Kupenga Hauora-Ahuriri
- Attending hui, forum public meetings, conferences, seminars, planning meetings, agency meetings and any other forum where the presence of Te Kupenga Hauora – Ahuriri is required to represent both the organization and the interests of the Ahuriri community.
- Promote Marae development and use of Marae in the team’s activities wherever possible.
- Promote tikanga and te reo Maori within the team as much as possible including ensuring attendance by staff at cultural training sessions.
Core Competencies
- Qualifications: A Health Promotion qualification is highly desirable, however primarily Te Kupenga Hauora - Ahuriri is interested in people with strong local knowledge and a background in working with whanau, hapu and Marae.
- The service is predominantly mobile; therefore, a full clean driver's license will be required.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, have a professional standard of presentation and have a sound level of computer skills.
- Te Kupenga Hauora – Ahuriri is a health and social service that provides predominantly for those with high needs, therefore the ability to speak Te Reo Maori is desirable.

- Demonstrated knowledge of tikanga Maori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi as it relates to health, housing and social services provision for Maori

- Ability to work in a team. But operate independently when required
- Commitment to self-development through training or study
- Applied knowledge of Kotahitanga, whanaungatanga and manaakitanga.
