Salary range: $ 118,052 - $ 158,264 + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga
The Principal Analyst role will bring expertise in customer centric design to lead the improvements to the design of our statistical and data products and services to deliver greater customer value. This is a role that requires an innovative thinker and someone who enjoys introducing new ideas. We are looking for someone who can confidently develop a research-based understanding of customer needs and use this to lead improvements to our products and services. You will be an important part of the Customer Services and Support leadership team and report to the General Manager.
You will provide professional leadership in the form of expert guidance and advice, working with a wide range of teams and individuals across Stats NZ and the wider data ecosystem. In addition, you are responsible for the provision of mentoring and coaching to staff across the branch.
This role would suit someone with:
- A tertiary qualification in a related field (like Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Psychology, or Computer Science) and relevant experience in a similar
- Experience using insights from quantitative and qualitative data/information to inform design and understands the importance of working with customers to take an iterative, test-driven approach to change.
- Knowledge of User Experience / Customer Experience
- A confident technical decision maker, an excellent collaborator/influencer who enjoys both learning from and developing other staff through coaching and mentoring.
- Demonstrable research skills.
- Ability to take new research and design improve the delivery of insights, and services and implement new designs to deliver increased customer value.
- Ability to develop practice guidelines around new and original practices that enable other staff to work efficiently and consistently.
- Advance ability to write a range of technical and research documents.
- Information and data governance
- Have familiarity with, or a commitment to learn and understand, Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Ao and Te Reo Māori.
- Demonstrated or encouraged diversity and inclusion in and/or outside of work.
