A unique opportunity has arisen for a skilled grants professional to join the ambitious Partnerships and Development directorate at Te Papa. The Partnerships and Development Directorate plays a key role in Te Papa's financial sustainability by securing grant funding from local or central government and non-government organisations and growing philanthropic support via the Te Papa Foundation.
Experience in understanding the fundraising landscape and knowing how to manage the grant process will enable you to work across Te Papa, to manage and monitor a centralised grants framework and set of processes to secure grants for priority projects.
The Grants Manager will collaborate with relevant Te Papa teams and Te Papa Foundation, to develop and deliver written grant applications, track milestones, and produce required reporting. The Grants Manager will continuously monitor the grants funding landscape, mine grants databases, identify and progress grant opportunities for Te Papa to secure funding, and support Te Papa teams to own and deliver expected milestones.
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Proven experience, ideally a minimum of three years, as a grants writer or grants manager able to navigate the domestic grants, foundations and investment fund landscape within New Zealand
- Proven sponsorship or fundraising ability, ideally a minimum of three years experience in a corporate or not for profit environment
- Experience writing fundraising and grants strategic frameworks, including implementing robust internal processes to guide organisations from grant application through to post-grant evaluation, with an eye for detail and process innovation
- Proven experience of preparing compelling proposals, applications and/or pitch materials aimed at securing grants and funding partners, and negotiating and completing business deals which have achieved organisational gains
- Ability to exercise tikanga Māori, including a basic understanding of te reo Māori
- Awareness of the historical significance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how Te Tiriti contributes to the day to day working and practices of an organisation
- Advanced level of relationship management skills including comfort with communicating across an organisation including at a senior level, and the ability to navigate internal politics well
- Ability to work closely and effectively with a team of colleagues across the museum including curatorial, learning innovation, communications, procurement and finance staff
