Starting salary: $132,114 - $165,428 negotiable + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga  

This role is permanent, based in Wellington. Reporting to the General Manager Risk and Assurance / General Counsel your focus is lifting the maturity of organisational risk and assurance and delivering specialist technical advice across all levels of the organisation. This role will lead the development, implementation and future maintenance of core frameworks and tools that will set the expectations around risk management arrangements for Stats NZ to ensure Stats NZ has robust assurance mechanisms in place across the systems, controls, and processes in the services we provide.  We see you bringing initiative, innovation and sound judgement to the role and team.   

This role would suit someone who can bring: 

  • Extensive experience providing technical, high quality strategic support, advice, and expertise on all aspects of risk  
  • Exceptional management and leadership skills 
  • A collaborative and collegial working style 
  • Experience developing core risk management frameworks 
  • Experience advising on complex issues at the Executive level and supporting senior leaders through risk management and assurance work  
  • Demonstrate a willingness to upskill and increase your cultural capability 
  • Understanding of the machinery of government and related processes and procedures
