Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora (TKKH) is seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer (Te Tumu Whakarae) to lead us in delivering quality health, education, and social services to whānau within the rohe of Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau and the wider Eastern Bay of Plenty.

TKKH is an iwi-mandated charitable entity governed by a Board of Trustees, employing over 55 kaimahi who are passionate about making a positive impact.  Guided by our vision and values, TKKH is committed to strengthening whānau wellbeing and delivering holistic services aligned with te taha tinana, te taha hinengaro, te taha wairua, and te taha whānau.

Our strategic priorities to 2027 include:

  • Progressing the implementation of a Kaupapa Māori model of care.

The Role

As Chief Executive Officer, you will:

  • provide strategic and operational leadership, ensuring alignment with TKKH’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
  • foster a positive organisational culture that reflects ngā uarā (values) and kaupapa Māori practices.
  • build and maintain strategic relationships with iwi, funders, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • lead the implementation of innovative services, operational improvements, and policy development.
  • oversee financial health, including budget preparation, contract compliance, and risk management.
  • support the Board of Trustees through sound governance practices and "no surprises" communication.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • strong knowledge of tikanga and kawa, and competency in Te Reo Māori.
  • proven leadership experience, ideally at Chief Executive role
  • experience in a kaupapa Māori environment.
  • exceptional financial acumen and operational management skills.
  • a demonstrated ability to build trust, lead change, and deliver results.
  • strong relationship management and communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and innovation.
