The Polynesian Health Corridors (PHC) team supports Polynesian countries through a range of modalities. In addition to directly assisting countries in some areas, the PHC team also contracts partners/suppliers for technical assistance, acts as a knowledge hub, supports mentoring and facilitates connections.

About the role

The Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) pillar objective is to provide Polynesian countries with support for cancer control and mental health activities.

As Senior Advisor - Mental Health, you will provide expert advice, guidance and direction on the delivery of the Mental Health programme plan. You will support the wider NCDs pillar work programme in delivering it to Polynesian countries.

This role is fixed-term for two years and has a midpoint of $105,270 - appointing salary dependent on individual skills and experience.

Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring:

  • Experience in mental health service management, leadership, and policy development
  • Background in public health with a qualification such as Public Health, Psychology, Nursing or research and programme management experience
  • Familiarity with Polynesian countries' health and development issues and the connections to Pasifika communities in NZ
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the machinery of government and political processes
