Senior Advisor, Cancer Control

The Polynesian Health Corridors (PHC) team supports Polynesian countries through a range of modalities. In addition to directly assisting countries in some areas, the PHC team also contracts partners/suppliers for technical assistance, acts as a knowledge hub, supports mentoring and facilitates connections.
About the role
The Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) pillar objective is to provide Polynesian countries with support for cancer control and mental health activities.
As Senior Advisor - Cancer Control, you will provide oversight and direction on key pieces of work in the NCDs pillar. Your high-quality technical advice is essential to delivering the programme, and your strategic and technical approaches will assist you in leading the cancer control activity with Polynesian countries.
This role is fixed-term for four and a half years and has a midpoint of $105,270, appointing salary dependent on individual skills and experience.
Ko pūkenga - What you'll bring:
- Experience leading the development of new programme of areas in Public Health activity design
- Experience in Cancer control design and activity planning and monitoring
- Strong public health and systems development experience
- Familiarity with Polynesian countries' health and development issues and the connections to Pasifika communities in NZ
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the machinery of government and political processes
- Familiarity with stakeholder engagement and management
