Poutiri Wellness Centre
Poutiri Trust is a kaupapa Māori charitable trust established in 1997 by Te Whānau Poutirirangiora ā Papa, a collective of kaumātua and kuia seeking to communicate and connect the Tiriti relationship and guarantees in health to the equitable treatment of Māori, with an overarching goal of improving the health status of Māori throughout the Bay of Plenty region.
Poutiri operates a suite of services and programmes including:
• Our integrated Wellness Center.
• A mobile hauora service in the Western Bay of Plenty, prioritising Māori communities.
• Community services covering Kaupapa Māori mental health and addictions service, Whānau Ora, Lactation service, Koroua and kuia programmes, rongoā, social welfare and other programmes.
Poutiri is also the lead organisation in the Poutiri network of twelve providers who work collaboratively to service the needs of communities across the Bay of Plenty.
The Role
We're looking for a Chief Operating Officer that is fluent in Te Reo me ōna tikanga, with experience in driving performance and delivering results in Kaupapa Māori organisations where both clinical and cultural performance are both required. You will lead our organisation's operations and execute the strategy to ensure our services are achieving the wellbeing outcomes for our whānau and communities. You'll lead six senior leaders as direct reports and together nurture a positive learning culture that prioritises toiora, places whānau first, embraces mana ki te mana practices, and promotes high trust and performance.
The success of the role requires a leader who is experienced with:
- Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga
- Leading and managing all operational and people related aspects of the organisation.
- Improving operational efficiency through process enhancements aligned with Kaupapa Māori quality best practices.
- Developing strong relationships of trust with key stakeholders and staff across the organisation.
- Developing staff with a coaching approach to help individuals thrive.
- Keeping the organisation compliant with relevant regulations and focuses on health and safety for all people.
- Developing and monitoring operational budgets and optimise resource use to maintain financial sustainability.
To support the responsibilities of the role, the successful candidate will have:
• Experience delivering results and improving performance in a Kaupapa Māori environment.
• Competence with Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga
• Bachelor’s in Business, Commerce, Operations Management or equivalent field
• Proven experience and track record as a COO.
• At least 5+ Years in Executive Roles.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Data analytic skills.
• Strong leadership that builds high-performing, high-trust teams.
• Strong knowledge of operational best practices, process optimisation, and business management and execution.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to drive change and improvement.
• A resilient and adaptive mindset for a busy environment.
