The Water Services Authority - Taumata Arowai is the water services regulator for Aotearoa New Zealand. It is a Crown entity governed by a Minister-appointed Board and advised on Māori interests and knowledge by Te Puna, a statutory Māori Advisory Group. Our responsibilities are to protect and promote drinking water safety and related public health outcomes - we regulate drinking water suppliers on behalf of the public. We also have an oversight role in relation to the environmental performance of drinking water, wastewater and stormwater networks.

Our Principal Advisor Portfolio and Planning leads the delivery of our organisation wide planning practice and the portfolio of strategic work across the Water Services Authority.
The Principal Advisor Portfolio and Planning will
- Develop and lead organisational planning processes aligned with the budget cycle, the accountability planning process and external reporting requirements.
- Regularly monitor, report on and review portfolio progress to inform senior leadership of the health of projects and programmes within the organisation
- Build and lead a collaborative PMO network amongst the programme and project staff, to support best practice in project and programme management and maintain the PMO Framework for Taumata Arowai
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, providing advice to ensure alignment with organisational strategic priorities across planning approaches and activities, and effective management of broader programmes of work.

We are looking for someone who has
- Knowledge of programme, portfolio management and strategic planning methodologies
- Experience leading significant programmes of work in a programme management role
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to innovate and maintain a big picture focus
- Ability to mentor kaimahi in project and programme management, and planning methodologies
