Whakaratoka me kā Whakariteka ā-Wāhaka | Divisional Services and Administration is a team of highly skilled professionals responsible for delivering outstanding student and staff experiences through high quality, confidential secretarial and administrative support services. You will be part of a supportive administration division while providing culturally appropriate administrative services to the Department of Zoology and the Ecology Programme.
Te Tari Mātai Kararehe | Department of Zoology is a large and friendly department studying how animals evolved, their behaviour, physiology and ecological interactions and how to conserve populations in the face of global change, with a specific focus on NZ. Similarly, our outstanding Te Kaupapa Mātauranga Rauropi | Ecology Programme studies plants and animals in relation to their environment and with each other, and the impacts of climate change.
The role/Te mahi
A key part of this role is supporting the staff and students, apply knowledge and understanding of te ao Māori into the work area and support for the Māori curriculum. Key tasks include providing support to academic and professional staff, responding to enquiries and coordinating local administration processes such as recruitment, induction, student support and a variety of administration work.
You will be responding to a range of enquiries and requests including planning and logistics for travel, arranging field trips (including in the wider Pacific region) and finance activities such as purchasing, and invoicing.

We are seeking a proactive customer focused Kaiwhakahaere Tari - Administrator with excellent relationship building and time management skills. You will play a pivotal role in the activities of the Department/Programme working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Key skills required in this role include:
• Previous experience in an administration role.
• Proficiency in Te Reo Māori or a willingness to increase proficiency
• Dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, with ability to adapt and navigate new systems.
• Excellent organisational skills and an attention to detail.
• An ongoing commitment to positive outcomes for our students, staff, and visitors.

This is a permanent part-time position (30 hours per week), located in Dunedin.
The appointment range for this role is $65,281 – 69,648. Top of Range $74,947 (pro rata)
