Introduction: Infratil is looking for an exceptional Finance Manager to join their central Wellington team in a permanent role. This newly created position offers a unique opportunity to engage in diverse and challenging work, spanning external financial reporting, group consolidation, and management accounting for the Infratil Group.
As a key member of a close-knit team, you will build strong relationships across Infratil’s global portfolio. Using these partnerships, you will provide critical performance insights and deliver reporting that drives strategic decision-making across the Group.
This role offers the chance to collaborate with a dynamic mix of management and staff, mentor and develop junior finance team members, and cultivate strong external relationships with Infratil’s portfolio companies and service providers. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, you will be a proactive, self-driven professional whose high-quality outputs create a meaningful impact on the organisation’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Involved in coordinating and delivering Group financial statements for Infratil Limited.
  • Responsible for preparing and maintaining the annual and half-year statutory accounts for the consolidated Group.
  • Coordinates the assessment of key accounting issues, estimates, judgements, and the application of NZ IFRS, ensuring that portfolio companies are aligned to Infratil’s accounting policies and approach
  • Manages the relationship with the external auditors and tax advisers on a day-to-day basis and review outputs.
  • Oversees the monthly consolidation of Infratil Group, including oversight of the month-end processes, reconciliations, and trial balances.
  • Prepares monthly Board reporting summarising performance across the Group.
  • Ensures compliance with financial reporting and regulatory requirements through clear work papers.
  • Coordinates and prepares financial statements and disclosures for Infratil holding companies in advance of reporting requirements.
  • Reviews and implements best practice accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Develops junior members of the finance team through training and mentoring.

Key Requirements:

The ideal candidate for this Finance Manager position at Infratil will bring commercial experience along with advanced technical knowledge in accounting principles.

  • Qualified Chartered accountant (CAANZ or equivalent qualifications)
  • High level of technical knowledge in respect of accounting and consolidation principles with the application of IFRS
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products and an interest in putting systems and technology at the forefront of good process and controls. NetSuite experience will be a bonus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to train and mentor junior members of the finance team
