Job Title: Impact Associate
Location: Hybrid (Mostly Remote with some national travel)
Employment Type: Contract for Service 8 months), hours: capped at 30 hours/week. Reports To: Impact Strategy Lead and Project Lead
Rate: $45 / hour.
Organisation Description:
Hands For Impact™ is a new initiative focused on delivering Social Return on Investment (SROI) and impact measurement services to not-for-profit organisations. We are passionate about our kaupapa to help organisations maximise their social value while providing opportunities for emerging social value practitioners to develop their own mahi and skills to make meaningful contributions to their sector. Our key objective is to improve accessibility in the impact sector for emerging practitioners and for-purpose organisations through offering high-quality, pro bono SROI services.
We aim to find emerging social value practitioners and empower them on their journey to move towards accreditation of Level 2. If this is you, this is an exciting opportunity to build your practice, collaborate with others, and work on a movement that seeks to deliver sector-wide support through SROI and impact reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead (with mentor & SROI Analyst supervision) in the development and execution of a social impact assessment and SROI (Social Return on Investment) study, focused on rangatahi development.
- Assist in the development and execution of social impact assessments and SROI (Social Return on Investment) studies across various projects.
- Produce and support research, data collection, analysis, and report generation to ensure accurate and meaningful impact measurement.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members to gather necessary information and provide insights.
- Contribute to the creation of client presentations and training materials related to social impact and value.
- Participate in project meetings and help ensure timelines and deliverables are met.
- Contribute insights and recommendations to beer understand the local context of Aotearoa’s rangatahi and the youth development sector.
Skills Required:
- Experience working with kaupapa Māori organisations is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of tikanga and commitment to inclusiveness; knowledge of Te Reo Māori and Te Ao Māori preferred.
- Knowledge of the social sector and non-profit organisations in Aotearoa New Zealand
is essential. - Cultural awareness and the ability to work with diverse partners and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data collection and analysis in a social impact context.
- Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools. Familiarity with impact measurement methodologies is a plus.
- Strong research skills and the ability to synthesise information into concise summaries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders and build rapport with partners.
- Analytical skills and the ability to connect data to real-world situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset, with experience working in remote teams.
- Proficiency/comfort with statistical and/or cost benefit analysis concepts.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative in a fast-paced environment, and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Excellent conceptual thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Past Experience:
- Experience working with or within organisations focused on rangatahi youth development is essential.
- Experience working with kaupapa Māori organisations is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in social impact measurement, social value, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous academic or professional experience in accounting, statistical and/or cost-benefit analysis methodologies is a plus.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, economics, engineering studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certification is a plus.
- Social Value Associate Level 1 certification is necessary, but if you do not have it yet, this can be attained during the contract.
Key Requirements:
- Passion for working towards improving solutions for the challenges rangatahi face and commitment to innovating sectors to address those challenges.
- Knowledge of the rangatahi development social sector and non-profit organisations in Aotearoa New Zealand is essential.
- Ability to communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Cultural awareness and ability to build rapport with partners.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Project Lead to ensure project goals and deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with the Social Value Mentor to develop and improve social value measurement capacities.
- Collaborate with other associates and team members on project deliverables.
- Participate in strategy sessions to improve impact measurement processes.
