The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Executive Manager to join the Ngati Tuwharetoa mai Kawerau ki te Tai group. Based in Kawerau, you will be part of a community that values heritage, sustainability, and growth. This is your chance to lead and contribute to meaningful change in an environment that offer an affordable lifestyle and easy access to a range of outdoor pursuits.

Reporting directly to the Chairperson of the Trust, you will provide strategic, technical, and analytical leadership on behalf of the Board. You will be instrumental in driving the implementation of the Trust’s Strategic Outcomes, ensuring that the organisation's direction reflects the vision and outcomes approved by the Board of Trustees. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring the continued success of the group’s key assets.

About Us: Ngati Tuwharetoa mai Kawerau ki te Tai is a post-Treaty Settlement group with a strong economic foundation built upon a historic connection to the Kawerau Geothermal field, recognised in our 2005 Treaty Settlement with the Crown. Our commercial ventures, including the Kawerau Geothermal Steam Supply business, are key contributors to the region’s economic growth and provide vital support to our iwi. 

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in leadership roles, particularly in strategic and technical positions
  • Strong understanding of the Maori world view and Treaty Settlement entities
  • Ability to navigate complex commercial environments while staying focused on the organisation’s long-term goals
  • Commitment to working within a small community and contributing to its prosperity.
