Te whiwhinga mahi: The opportunity
Are you passionate about creating positive change and driving health equity for Māori communities? We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced programme manager to join our team in a newly created role, dedicated to advancing Māori health and wellbeing across Te Manawa Taki.
As our Programme Manager – Māori Health and Equity you will work alongside wider regional services and programmes encompassing Te Tairāwhiti, Taranaki, Tūwharetoa and Waikato districts providing operational support to deliver Pinnacle strategy and operationalising He Ara Whakamua - Māori Health strategy. You will work closely with district managers, the strategic development team and cultural partners.
Your key responsibilities will be leading and coordinating the internal and external programme of work supporting Māori health and equity, leading projects, initiatives and programmes that are focused on Māori health and equity a well as building meaningful relationships with Iwi Māori and hapu, health and social services to help support connections and wellbeing within the region.
This is a full time fixed-term role until 4 November 2026.
He kōrero mōu: About you
- Professional qualification in appropriate health or business-related degree (i.e. public health, health / business management, indigenous studies, or related fields) or equivalent professional experience.
- Proficiency in Tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori.
- An extensive background in cultural community engagement, preferably in health sector or the health equity remit, supported by success in cultural leadership, engagement and/or management-based roles.
- Proven experience in engaging with iwi, hapū and Māori organisations, supported by a competency in Te Reo me ōna tikanga.
- The skills and experience to proactively identify any equity gaps and provide solutions supported by the experience in providing advice, development, and implementations at a senior level.
- Experience managing change across various stakeholders.
- Experience writing formal reports.
- Proficiency with Office 365 products and competency using video conferencing (e.g. Microsoft, Teams, Zoom).
- Outcome focused and able to prioritise, set goals, meet deadlines and achieve results.
