Whare Ora Build is the company’s  lead project,  a housing manufacturing program with a mission of supplying  affordable, healthy, and accessible housing via sustainable and innovative solutions.

About the role

The General Manager will report directly to the board and will provide leadership across all operations leading the team to bring HEL’s business plans and strategies to life whilst ensuring activities continuously align with HEL kaupapa.

This exciting role is made for someone with passion for community development and is a dynamic leader with extensive experience in the building industry, strong business acumen, excellent team management skills, and experience in sales and financial management.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking an empathetic leader that loves attention to detail. This role is for someone who is passionate about whanau-centred outcomes and thrives on getting the do done while maintaining the highest standards of construction quality and client satisfaction.

Among the must haves are:

  • Leadership and management experience including strategic, risk, financial, and employee responsibilities
  • Extensive experience in the building industry
  • Understanding of the basic requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Employment Relations Act
  • Knowledge of Te Reo me ona tikanga
