Mō tēnei tūranga mahi / The Opportunity:

The role is to work with staff and Māori students to promote a learning environment which supports Māori educational aspirations and achievement. The key responsibility of the role is to mentor Māori learners in and outside of the classroom to support them to achieve success.

  • Establish the Māori advisory board and also the Māori staff committee
  • Embed Te Ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi knowledge across the organisation
  • Provide information, advice and guidance to Head of Schools and support Māori Ākonga
  • Develop Māori Learner Success plan
  • Assist Head of Schools to embed curriculum content incorporating mātauranga Māori in all programmes and teach where required
  • Reporting on activities to the Learner Success Leadership Team
  • Work with the Academic Team in on Individual Learning Plans
  • Attend school events and expos

Ko koe tēnei | About you:

  • A high level of competence in Te Reo Māori – written and verbal
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Māori Education or similar
  • Working knowledge of the Education sector or in a similar role
  • Highly competent using Microsoft Office 365 and Teams
  • Confident and possess strong relationship management skills
  • Some teaching experience will preferred
