Are you looking for an exciting new challenge in a beautiful location? Look no further than the stunning Rēkohu - Chatham Islands, located 800kms east of mainland New Zealand. We are currently ah experienced individual to join us in supporting the Moriori Imi Settlement Trust obligations (MIST) under the Settlement Act.

The position is currently being developed to meet the needs of the Moriori Imi Settlement Trust obligations (MIST) under the Moriori Claims Settlement Act 2021 and the Moriori-Crown Deed of Settlement signed in 2020. There are various post settlement matters that need to be implemented including development of plans, overseeing a property portfolio and engagement with various government departments under negotiated Relationship Agreements. Following the settlement, it is also imperative that revitalising Moriori culture and identity via the re-education of present and future generations about Moriori culture and history and our unique identity as the “waino pono” or indigenous peoples of Rekohu/Aotearoa New Zealand is promoted and protected.

Operational Management Support - 30+ hours per week - M890 ($55-$65 per hour)

You will have previous experience with post-settlement implementation preferably be someone who has worked for an iwi/tribal-based organisation, has a good knowledge of tikane/tikanga, a working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and experience in organisational implementation,

Alongside your proven, solid experience and a background working on Treaty-based issues, you will bring to the role:

  • Strong people management skills.
  • A high level of financial literacy.
  • Ta Rē Moriori
  • Be politically astute.

You will also have the proven ability to work collaboratively to develop and grow relationships proactively, supported by strong communication and interpersonal skills.

This role can be completed remotely, so there's no need to be based on Rēkohu.
