The opportunity

Rainbow Hub Waikato is inviting community educators and activators to join us in our partnership and collaboration in continuing our growth in how we empower Takataapui and Maaori, and Pasifika and MVPFAFF+ peoples within our Rainbow communities.

We are recruiting one Te Ao Maaori Programme Coordinator and one Pasifika Programme Coordinator. These roles will lead the expansion of our current support, along with the accessibility and visibility of our Te Ao Maaori and Takataapui, and Pasifika and MVPFAFF+ community members. These roles will directly empower and uplift through development and creation of programmes and workshops, as well as strengthening existing relationships and robust mental health and wellbeing engagements that meet the needs of Maaori and Pasifika rangatahi, and build resilience, confidence, and hope.

Ko wai maatou - who are we?

We are a non-profit organisation that fosters safe and accepting communities for people of diverse gender, sex, and sexuality and their whaanau in the Waikato.

We strive to create safe spaces where all people feel safe to be themselves and explore who they are and where they are at in their journey.

We aim to connect people into a community that is rich with diversity, celebrates inclusivity, and builds authentic and healthy relationships.

We endeavour to provide support where people can thrive through strong self-identity and connect into services to empower their wellbeing.

We persevere to educate the communities around us to truly embrace all rainbow identities and demonstrate advocacy and allyship.

Te Ao Maaori Programme Coordinator

This role is responsible for the design and development, delivery, review, and redevelopment of wellbeing workshops and programmes primarily for Takataapui and Maaori and Pasifika and MVPFAFF+ peoples, working alongside the Pasifika Programme Coordinator. You will work alongside the Support Coordinator and Education Coordinator in some aspects of your mahi including networking and relationship building, and be supported by the Programme Facilitator/s in delivery. You will also be supported in development by the Team Leader/Project Leader.

This role requires the successful candidate to work evenings up to 4 nights a week, plus weekdays during school holidays. Some weekend work may also be possible. This role is attached to a specific partnership and contract, and will have clear start and end dates within a fixed term.

Due to the nature of this role, we are seeking people who identify within and have experience working alongside Maaori communities. You need to have lived understanding of Maaori cultural values, perspectives, and languages, and have competencies in Maaori teaching and learning pedagogies. Being Rainbow, Takataapui, and/or MVPFAFF+ yourself is a plus but not a necessity.

If you relate to this kaupapa and want to tautoko this mahi, or have any paatai, please feel free to email: director@rhw.org.nz for further information on the application process. We will be interviewing as people apply and until the roles are filled.
