Want to work for Ngāi Tahu Tourism, one of the largest tourism operators in Aotearoa?

We're on the hunt for Funyak Guide's - outdoor enthusiasts who love water and adventure. You will guide manuhiri (visitors) on Funyak's (inflatable canoes) along the Dart River, a treasured and unique environment. If you're a natural storyteller and entertainer, then this is the perfect role for you!

Our Funyak experience combines jet boating on the beautiful and iconic Dart River with a canoe journey in the heart of Mt Aspiring National Park. A wilderness picnic lunch and exploration of the stunning Rockburn Chasm are a highlight of the tour.

We take great pride in warmly welcoming manuhiri to our experiences. Manaakitanga (hospitality) is one of the core values that drives the way we do business. As hosts, we care for our customers and our team as our own whanau.

We offer not only a unique experience for visitors, but also an awesome place to work.

We currently have Fixed term positions available in Glenorchy.

A little bit about what you'll bring to the role

We're after someone who:

  • Loves the outdoors
  • Cares about delivering amazing experiences for our visitors
  • Works well in a team
  • Is physically fit and keeps cool under pressure
  • Has previous experience of guiding and hosting customers on activities in dynamic outdoor environments
  • Holds a full drivers licence (preferable)
  • Is open to learning about Ngāi Tahu culture and stories
  • Is able to work shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

A full, clean driver's licence with Class 2 and Passenger endorsement is preferable. As is having attended a River Rescue course in the last three years and possessing a current first aid certificate.

There's more to being a Funyak Guide than paddling the river, so we provide full training to ensure you can deliver safe and exciting experiences.
