About the Organisation -  Ko wai mātou?

The Ngāti Hine Health Trust celebrated its 30th anniversary in April 2022. The Trust has some 360 employees and $43M turnover. The Trust is a true oranga provider delivering services across multiple sectors (health & disability, housing, social services, justice, corrections, MSD, ECE and is the whanau ora lead provider for Te Tai Tokerau). It has deliberately positioned itself over the past few years to partner with the Crown in the transformation agenda that is for Māori, by Māori. Whilst the Trust is committed to its own plan, it also carries a wider leadership role across the Te Tai Tokerau Māori Health and Social Services provider network and is working collaboratively for the benefit of the entire region.  

The Trust’s strategic plan sets out a clear blueprint for the direction ahead and seeks to reconfigure service design and delivery to align with thinking and practice that places whānau at the centre of everything they do, that encourages whānau leadership in a systemic context and in the long-term is driving to ‘One Whānau, One Plan, One Place’. This is an exciting phase for the Trust, and we have worked hard developing a new strategic direction which includes a new vision and mission, underpinned by the organisational values from Te Tū o Ngāti Hine. 

About the Role

This is a new Executive Leadership Team role and is the 2IC to the Chief Executive. The person will run the CEO Office and its requirements around reporting, performance, financial, commercial and risk management. The role also oversees a number of service managers. It is a very big role and will require Chief Executive skill sets to manage the scope and responsibilities effectively. The role has up to five staff.

About you

This role is critical to developing and growing the Trust and its services.  You will be a person who leads in the values of Ngāti Hine and an exceptional strategic thinker. You will be a person of high energy and output, have clarity of thinking, excellent interpersonal skills and manage complexity of issues and the Board environment with ease. You will bring a well-developed skill set common of a Chief of Staff or Chief Operating Officer, but will manage to lead and give guidance to operational services managers at a level they respect. You can tell by this description that we are looking for an exceptional person and your track-record will be very important to the application, as well as your fit with us.
