Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role:

Our Policy & Projects team at Engineering New Zealand Te Ao Rangahau is looking for a Policy Advisor to support its response to climate change, three waters reform, infrastructure development, education, regulatory settings in the built environment, the regulation of the engineering profession, and others.

The ideal candidate will be able to:
  • Contribute to proactive policy pieces on matters affecting New Zealand where the engineering voice should be heard
  • Develop documents that engage with members and Engineering New Zealand stakeholders on policy issues 
  • Keep track of upcoming proposed regulatory changes, recommendations and other policy activity
  • Conduct research and analysis on a wide and interesting variety of policy issues
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships both internally as well with external stakeholders including members of Engineering New Zealand, specialist experts and central and local government agencies.
Ngā tino Pūkenga/Whēako - Desired skills and experience:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification
  • Previous working experience in a policy advisory or analytical role
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A genuine interest in the engineering profession and understanding of the importance engineering has in making New Zealanders’ lives better.
