Lead a team responsible for the delivery of approved projects across the property portfolio, working alongside the Director, Property and their Leadership Team colleagues to create a cohesive culture consistent with Police’s values.

New Zealand Police has an extensive portfolio of police stations, offices, service centres, specialist facilities and houses across New Zealand that play an integral part in delivering Police services.

The National Property Office (NPO) is responsible for the management of the property portfolio as part of the Corporate Operations group, which enables Police through the operational delivery of corporate services.

As policing continues to transform, the NPO is increasingly at the forefront of engaging with partners and stakeholders, leading the development of new innovative solutions and improving the asset maturity of the portfolio to ensure it remains fit for purpose and aligned with Police’s strategic intent and specific operational needs.

The Manager Project Delivery is a strategic leadership role within the NPO responsible for the delivery of business case approved capital works projects needed to continue to transform the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a Project Delivery “Centre of Excellence” within NPO for the effective delivery of all construction and physical-related projects across the portfolio
  • Develop a Delivery Programme, identifying projects at the various stages of delivery
  • Lead, on a project by project basis, the delivery of priority projects identified in the Delivery Programme in accordance with the approved business case parameters, budgets and timeframes
  • Lead the detailed business briefing, design, consenting, costing, construction procurement and project management needed to ensure delivery
  • Support to the Planning and Partnership team with any co-design, due diligence, conceptual solution development, programming, budgeting and related inputs needed to inform the pre-business case and business case development for specific initiatives/projects

Key Requirements:

  • Have exceptional leadership skills and prior experience leading a high-performing team to deliver large scale and complex projects
  • Previous experience delivering significant programme of work circa $50m per annum
  • In-depth knowledge of programme and project management methodologies
  • Experience leading a diverse range of projects ideally within an occupier portfolio of owned and leased assets and diverse geography and asset types
  • Well-developed financial and commercial acumen and apply this to key property and investment decisions
  • Well-developed report writing and written communication skills
  • Experience collaborating with and influence key strategic partners to achieve better outcomes
