South Waikato is a stunning district with fantastic lifestyle options. Its central location offers proximity to ski slopes and the coast and is a drive away to urban centres including Taupo, Rotorua and Hamilton. It offers a hundred kilometres of Waikato River trails with the national mountain bike park (Cougar Park) at Tokoroa. It also boasts vibrant arts and culture, sports and events facilities, and excellent schools and health services. Following a resignation, South Waikato District Council is seeking to appoint its next Chief Executive.
  
The CE will lead a large team (around 140 FTEs) and provide leadership to help implement Council’s vision for the future. As well as providing outstanding services to a diverse community, the CE will contribute to the growth and prosperity of the district, with plans in place for large housing developments.
  
To be considered for this key role, you will be an experienced senior leader with a sound background in and understanding of local government. You will be a strong networker and engagement person and an effective people and change leader. You must be politically aware and have led organisations or large business units in complex environments. You will have sound financial acumen and be an excellent communicator who is comfortable speaking in public. You will have an understanding of te ao Māori and the principles of partnership in relation to the Treaty of Waitangi.
  
This is an outstanding opportunity to lead a District Council that has a passion for its community.
