The University of Auckland, Faculty of Education and Social Work, provides for the education of teachers, social workers and counsellors and supports the development of education and training in schools, colleges and social services as well as other professional settings. We have two permanent, part-time (0.7) roles available to assist with the smooth operation of our marae, Te Aka Matua ki Te Pou Hawaiki.
Please note, the salary for each role will range between $63,000 - $77,900 depending on experience.

He mea nui tonu kia matatau ngā kaitono e rua ki te reo hei kaikōrero, hei kaikaranga hoki mō te marae. He mea nui anō hoki kia hōhonu tō mōhio ki te ao Māori. Ka whai haepapa hoki ngā tūranga e rua mō te whakaako i ētahi atu ki ngā tikanga, te kawa me te mana o Te Aka Matua ki Te Pou Hawaiki. The Marae Amo Taurima roles will be responsible for the day to day running of the Marae and assisting with welcoming any manuhiri. It is essential applicants have fluency in te reo as the kaikōrero and kaikaranga respectively for the marae. An in depth knowledge of te Ao Māori is essential for these positions.
Both positions have a critical role in educating others about the tikanga, kawa and the mana of Te Aka Matua ki Te Pou Hawaiki Marae. You will provide leadership and expert advice relating to tikanga Māori, facilitate iwi and community engagement; manage all Marae activities, and implement strategies and activities to increase student and staff knowledge and competency in tikanga and te reo Māori.

You will be passionate about acting as a Kaitiaki for our taonga, open to sharing your knowledge and helping other staff, manuhiri and students to grow in their journey towards greater understanding of Te Ao Maori me ona tikanga as well as generally contributing towards our Te Reo Māori revitalisation programme
