What you’ll be doing:
As a Senior Communications Advisor, you will play a critical role in building awareness and profile of this important work.
Supporting the Head of Communication and Engagement, you’ll contribute to delivering an integrated approach to communication and engagement across the organisation, and with internal and external audiences.
You’ll be providing strategic communications advice in line with ESR’s priorities and develop ways to support and lead ESR’s commitment to Māori impact and mātauranga. You’ll build and maintain relationships with media and stakeholders that will strengthen the trust and support of ESR, and support engagement opportunities that enhance understanding of ESR’s work and inspire others with the value of their science.
Your default style will be to work in collaboration with others behind the scenes and you will be happy to “roll up your sleeves” to achieve exceptional results. Coupled with a high level of self-awareness, strategic communications capability and a strong stakeholder service ethic, you will have the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people and you will thrive in a role that requires cross-functional influence. You will be delivery focused and have a sharp eye for detail, with the ability to see, with clarity, what needs to be achieved from a communications and engagement perspective in a complex and technical environment.
What we’re looking for:
We are seeking candidates who have the following:
- A tertiary level qualification, or relevant experience, in communications, journalism or a related subject.
- Recent and demonstrable experience in a Communications, Public Relations or Marketing role with a strong focus on delivering strategic advice.
- Demonstrated skills in project planning or management.
- Experience with managing digital and social media platforms and apps including Google analytics, CMS, mobile and web programmes.
