About the role:

Engagement Leads act as a key conduit between WorkSafe and external organisations, interest groups, other agencies and sectors.

As an Engagement Lead, you will provide thought leadership and challenge sectors to accelerate their improvement and move away from traditional approaches to health and safety. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead interactions with the key stakeholders in and across sectors, including at a Board and Senior Leadership level
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date understanding of key influencers and inter-stakeholder relationship dynamics as well as the evolving political, cultural, economic and technological environment in which they play out, through direct engagement intelligence and targeted research
  • Collaborate with others to support, or lead the design and delivery of an integrated sector programme in priority areas to reduce work-related harm
  • Work collaboratively as a team to adjust level of activity and focus as appropriate to WorkSafe priorities, and provide cover for other Engagement Leads during absences
  • Lead alignment of activity through internal engagement throughout WorkSafe, including Operations, Better Regulation, External Strategy and Engagement Group, particularly with Te Pou Ora and Marketing and Communications channels so activity aligns with WorkSafe’s messaging and brand.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams to deliver successful interventions
  • Plan for, deliver and report against any workstreams that form part of a WorkSafe funded intervention activated by an Implementation Lead

Key Requirements:

  • A confident and effective communicator who is experienced and comfortable working with SLT and a wide range of stakeholders
  • The ability to quickly establish and build strong, productive and collaborative working relationships
  • Strong facilitation skills with a demonstrated ability to support collaborative working on complex issues at all levels and negotiate skilfully in tough situations
  • Has sector knowledge or has a demonstrated ability to quickly develop understanding of targeted/diverse sectors- in-depth knowledge of the agriculture industry is advantageous for the agriculture focused Engagement Lead role
  • Knowledge of health and safety systems an advantage
  • A track record of personal achievement, particularly in the delivery of initiatives or projects that provide creative solutions to defined problems
  • Experience as a member of project teams
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work effectively and efficiently to deliver required results
