Are you passionate about seeing our tamariki succeed? Do you have a proven aptitude for building strong relationships and networks within a bi-cultural environment?

We are looking for an individual with experience in the education sector to guide and develop a range of Ngāi Tahu educational outcome improvements. Over time, the Senior Advisor - Mātauranga will build educational, pedagogical and structural approaches that produce enhanced outcomes for Ngāi Tahu whānau.

This dynamic position needs a highly experienced person to

  • Develop a response to the Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Curriculum at both iwi and Papatipu Rūnanga levels
  • Engage with Papatipu Rūnanga to develop strategies which enable effective teaching of Papatipu Rūnanga approved local histories
  • Support Papatipu Rūnanga through establishing ongoing support networks
  • Research, identify and implement strategies, models and tools to support the effective execution of all Mātauranga programmes

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 3 years+ experience in a strategic advisory position
  • Excellent pedagogical knowledge, with experience writing and implementing curriculum documentation and resources
  • Extensive senior work experience within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in project management and policy development
  • Knowledge of tikanga, with competence in te reo Māori
  • A demonstrated affinity with Ngāi Tahu values and aspirations
  • Awareness and understanding of core Ngāi Tahu education documents
