About the company: Global Velocity Group is a highly successful Kiwi owned business who pride themselves on their garment design, custom importing, manufacture, and management of apparel for many leading international brands. Their in-house brands include huntechoutdoors.com, velocityclothing.com, VMGclothing.com and nodoff.co.nz. About the role: As the Design Manager you’ll be the creative lead responsible for overseeing the work of the design team in the production of all apparel and accessory design. You will spearhead and manage design strategy for both small-scale and large-scale projects, harnessing strategy, digital and brand design. You will work closely with several key stakeholders in the business including both the Sales and Marketing departments. In this key role you will require an extensive design background and market knowledge with the ability to track the competitive landscape including market and consumer trends and adapt and respond accordingly.

Key responsibilities:

• Supervise a cross-functional team of designers and project managers in the strategic development of messages and deliverables
• Prioritise work and resources across engagements based on business needs, establishing production schedules by collaborating with designers and production departments
• Review and approve art and copy developed by the team, ensuring deliverables that effectively address sales goals and challenges
• Present, or oversee presentation of final concepts, and obtain approvals for deliverables

Skills and Qualifications

• 10 years of related experience with 7+ years as a senior or lead designer in agency or corporate setting
• Proven experience with concept development
• Highly skilled with leading a team of creative talent
• Proficient sketching in Illustrator
• Ability to develop a line from concept to completion without supervision from supervisors
• Ability to multitask and prioritise
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives
• CAD design software experience needed
• Master’s degree in fashion design (ideal)
