As part of the Workplace Services Leadership team this role is responsible for providing the systems and people leadership to develop organisational capabilities that enable good practice in the delivery of workplace outcomes.

You will ensure that industry and government relevant knowledge, tools, processes, and systems are available to the Workplace team to support their portfolio and service delivery. A robust collaboration across the Workplace team and other key internal and external stakeholders is critical to this role and will ensure Workplace and Ministry objectives are met and our Workplace people are supported to be successful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bring system leadership to the Workplace Portfolio to ensure practice and capability needs are understood as a cohesive whole
  • Use government and industry maturity models to guide people and system capability development across strategic and tactical horizons
  • Lead the development of core practice standards, processes, and procedures to support successful Workplace capacity and capability requirements.
  • Lead the development and management of the assurance model to create visibility on workplace performance and regulatory compliance assurance.
  • Develop and implement a framework that creates visibility on the people capabilities required to deliver the workplace outcomes and a roadmap to build or source those capabilities, taking into consideration future capability requirements
  • Work with the Workplace Portfolio Managers, Workplace Leads and People Leaders to identify and source the resources needed to deliver the work programme

Key Requirements:

  • Demonstrated systems thinking capability, able to develop capability and practice improvement in a whole system context in commercial property management
  • Proven track record in connecting people and teams to deliver successful outcomes
  • Ability to apply constructive ways to deal with disagreement with emphasis on collaboration, teamwork and positive, proactive participation
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage a specialised and diverse team including management of performance, coaching, and developing staff
  • Experience in a public sector context and working knowledge of New Zealand machinery of government and government procurement policy
  • Excellent risk management experience
