Te tūranga mahi:

Kei te Kaitātari Rangahau Mātāmua te haepapa ki ārahi i ngā take whiwhinga rangahau, arotake hoki a Te Mātāwai, ā, mātua rā ko koe te tangata tika mō ngā raraunga me ngā pārongo a Te Mātāwai.

Ko tāu mahi he tuari i ngā tirohanga rangahau, arotake hoki ki:

  • Ngā kāinga, ngā hapori me ngā iwi;

  • Support decision making across the Māori language revitalisation sector
  • Sharing information with our kāinga, hapori and iwi and stakeholders 

Kia ūkaipō anō te reo Māori: “Te reo Māori is restored as a nurturing first language”

This is the vision of the Māori language strategy, the Maihi Māori, developed by Māori for kāinga, hapori and iwi.

Early in 2017, Te Mātāwai met with all stakeholders nationwide to gather feedback on Māori language initiatives in homes and communities, their aspirations for te reo Māori and the role of Te Mātāwai in realising these aspirations. The feedback informed the development of the Maihi Māori 2017-2040 Strategy.

The role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a high performing Senior Research Analyst to join this great organisation on a full time permanent basis. Te Mātāwai is an organisation made up of people who are committed to upholding the mana and leading the revitalisation of te reo Māori.

The Senior Research Advisor will be responsible for leading the procurement for Te Mātāwai research and evaluations, as well as being the go-to person in data and information for Te Mātāwai. 

You will share research and evaluation findings with:

  • Kāinga, hapori and iwi,
  • the Te Mātāwai Board and Pae Motuhake to support investment planning and language revitalisation,
  • Crown agencies to inform the implementation of the Maihi Karauna Strategy and macro language revitalisation activities,
  • Language revitalisation interests nationally and internationally.

You will directly support the Research Manager to implement the Strategic Research Agenda.

About you

You will be a self-directed and credible research professional with:

  • Experience in Māori language research.
  • Experience in research, evaluation and monitoring including a working knowledge of different research methodologies and methods.
  • Experience in procuring cost-effective services to achieve research, monitoring and evaluation targets.
  • Highly developed data analysis skills with the ability to analyse and interpret compiled data sets, and draw valid findings.
  • Experience in working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and Māori communities.
  • Excellent communication skills in both Māori and English.
  • A sound understanding of tikanga and Treaty of Waitangi principles.
  • A collaborative approach with an interpersonal style that enables you to build positive working relationships and gain buy in from others.
