At Tāwharau Ora (the School of Veterinary Science) in Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa (Massey University), we are looking for a new kaiārahi to support our Māori tauira and Pacific students. The Veterinary Māori and Pacific (VetMAP) programme comprises wrap-around, holistic support for Māori and Indigenous Pacific students in Tāwharau Ora to facilitate their success in their tertiary journey.
The VetMAP kaiārahi works with our tauira on a day-to-day basis, to provide or facilitate access to pastoral, academic and cultural support, and engages with other university units associated with student success. We are looking for a new kaiārahi who is committed to Māori and Pacific student success and has great skills in relationship building with rangatahi and whānau. While there are many attributes that would be helpful in this position (excellent organisational skills, self-driven, reliability, motivation), one of the biggest factors would be your presence and warmth.
To be successful in this role, you will have the following:
- A minimum of an undergraduate qualification such as in the sciences, education, psychology or social work
- Proficiency in te reo me ngā tikanga Māori is recommended for this role
Experience in working with Māori or Pacific tauira, and whānau
