Te Kura Whatu Oho Mauri School of Psychology offers a range of specialisations within psychology at graduate level, including programmes which lead to registration as a psychologist. It enables students to study Psychology with significant flexibility to tailor learning and qualifications to suit individual needs. For example Psychology can be taken as a major for the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Sciences and Bachelor of Science - unlike any other university in New Zealand.
The School offers a vibrant and dynamic research environment. Our team of academic staff specialise in areas as diverse as environmental psychology, clinical psychology, social and organisational psychology, community and health psychology, as well as cognitive and developmental psychology.
Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We have an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Laboratory Manager to join our School to provide pivotal support and assistance, to research related to applied cognitive psychology.
The key focus of this role is maintaining and developing laboratory software and hardware for the School and the Transport Research Group laboratory as well as assisting in recruiting, scheduling and organising research participants, whilst ensuring the laboratories are run effectively to help facilitate teaching and research activities.

If you have excellent organisational skills and have had experience running laboratory experiments and in conducting applied cognitive experimental psychology research, then we want to hear from you.
In addition to the above, to be successful in this position you will have the following:
- A degree in Psychology or related field
- Be experienced in the use of a range of programming techniques and office computer programmes
- Ability to work as part of the team and on own
- Self-motivated and have good communication and interpersonal skills

Salary will be in the range of $69,124 to $84,062 per year, pro rata depending on qualifications, skills and experience.
This position is part-time 18.75 hours per week and fixed-term until December 2023
