We are the Gisborne District Council, passionate about diversity in our workplace, diversity in your ability to build a career path, learn new skills, work on a variety of projects and tasks, and we welcome a workforce that reflects the diversity of our community. We are based in the beautiful Gisborne District.

We embody intent in our relationships, work, culture and vision. Here, you'll find everything you're looking for, including friendly, vibrant people from all walks of life, affordable housing, great schools and a real sense of community with no traffic!

You will be well supported by a team that prides ourselves on nurturing an open workspace that embraces innovation and creativity, so bring your passion and leading-edge ideas to GDC.

Your day will look like:

All things leadership.  You’ll oversee the delivery of the strategy programme and ensure the quality of strategy and policy advice to Council.    You’ll support the development of strategies, plans and policies across Councils planning cycles such as the Long Term Plan and Annual Plan whilst building relationships, preparing submissions and advocating to resolve strategic issues along the way.

A bit about you:

You’ll be a skilled relationship builder with an aptitude for presenting complex and technical information to stakeholders and achieving buy-in.  With a relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. strategic planning, public policy, social science, resource, environmental and city planning etc), you’ll be keen to utilise your extensive knowledge of strategy and policy development and implementation to lead this talented team to success.

So, what are you waiting for? Apply now and make a difference in the lives of future generations. Gisborne District Council is the place to make change, so be part of shaping our future today! Now is your opportunity to help shape the future of our region. Will you join us?
