Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

We are looking for a Senior Adviser to join the Ministerial Services team. This is a fixed term role until December 2023 and would suit someone with a strong understanding of the machinery of government who can hit the ground running and deliver high quality Ministerial products. 

Specifically, this role requires a solid grasp of plain English writing and clear, effective communication skills. With previous experience of government and parliamentary processes, you will also be tasked with quality assurance, oversight and guidance to our staff on all matters relating to Ministerial servicing including requests for official information, written Parliamentary questions, Select Committee questions as well as drafting Ministerial correspondence. This role is about guiding staff in the provision of high-quality official correspondence and Ministerial support. 

You will be joining a small, busy team who support each other and work collaboratively to get the job done. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a busy environment, is an excellent communicator and loves to help other develop their skills.

Kōrero mōu | About you

You will have:

-        Strong writing and plain English skills.

-        Previous experience writing for varied audiences, including Ministers (preferred)

-        Relevant experience in parliamentary and government processes including the Official Information Act 1982

-        Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills

-        Strong analytical and research skills

-        Knowledge of current affairs 

-        Ability to coach and mentor other team members
